Rotational Molding
RMB Products' rotational molding and lining techniques deliver seamless products
for numerous unique and demanding applications.
We utilize a variety of rotational molding equipment, including our extensively
modified Rock n Roll machine, which has produced parts as large as 90 inches in
diameter by 240 inches in length.
Rotomolding 101
The basic concept of rotomolding is to place an appropriate amount of
the desired polymer powder into a mold. The mold is indexed and
rotated under heat until the plastic is molten. The mold is rotated
about two perpendicular axis to allow coverage of the plastic to all
mold surfaces. This gravitational process relies on plastic tumbling
inside a rotating mold to give an even wall thickness. Once the
desired cure time has been satisfied the mold is then taken into a
cooling station, followed by a load/unload station where the part is
unloaded.
